Who I am
I spent the last decade as the CFO and COO of Imperial College, London – one of the world’s great universities as well as a rapidly growing £1Bn organisation. This role required the constant trading-off of multiple, conflicting, compelling priorities whilst under the scrutiny of important and impassioned stakeholder groups.
Prior to that I was a strategy consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton (later Booz & Company). I worked across multiple industries and in the private, public and charity sectors, rising over seventeen years through an annual “up or out” process to become UK Managing Partner. This involved leading the team through all phases of the business cycle and the stress and scrutiny of only being as good as your last project.
I am now also a European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) accredited practitioner coach having studied on the Meyler Campbell Mastered Programme. This has provided me with new skills as well as leveraging my thirty years’ experience of informal coaching, mentoring and staff development – the part of my job that I always enjoyed the most.
During my career, I have made many decisions, both good and bad. I have known the arrogance and anxiety of being a rising star and the terror of the spotlight in my eyes. I have both the accolades and the scars. It is the scars which have taught me the most.
